Best Actor Award of Year Win By Lloyd Bridges

Lloyd Bridges Win Best Actor Award Of The Year:Bridges dedicated the award to his parents and recalled how his father, the actor Lloyd Bridges, had taught him the basics of acting as a child.

Raising his statuette to the heavens he said: "I want to thank my mum and dad for turning me on to such a groovy profession. My mum and dad loved showbiz so much. This is honouring them as much as it is me."

Bridges is known for his naturalistic style and for often playing rambling and unpredictable characters, and he has long been considered an under-appreciated actor.

In "Crazy Heart," Bridges played country singer Bad Blake, who is a heavy drinker and has been relegated to playing in small bars and even a bowling alley.

He wrestles to gain control of his life after falling for a journalist and single mother, played by Maggie Gyllenhaal. Gyllenhaal was nominated for best supporting actress for the role, but lost to Mo'Nique.

Bridges, 60, did his own singing in Crazy Heart, putting his lesser known musical abilities front and centre to give voice to the fictional, down-on-his-luck country star.:Bridges dedicated the award to his parents and recalled how his father, the actor Lloyd Bridges, had taught him the basics of acting as a child.
